Gucci Ancora Notte is the first evening wear collection by Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, worn at the 2023 LACMA Art+Film Gala. Just a few weeks after Gucci Ancora, the debut show that defined the codes of the House’s new wardrobe for the day, Ancora Notte continues to enrich Gucci’s new vision with an ode to life after dark.
Who is the new Gucci? This was our first glimpse. All a part of the evolution of the brand, alas a re-brand that’s inevitable when a new creative director joins a fashion house. Gucci’s former Creative Director Alessandro Michele stepped down in November 2022 and had been with the fashion house since 2002. Michele’s twenty year tenure was a period that saw him help revive and transform the Italian label’s fortunes, and many attribute the dominance of Gucci to Michele specifically. But with De Sarno, were seeing an entirely new Gucci. Less guady, and more refined. The new Gucci Ancora line defiantly turns heads as what we’re used to seeing has been made minimal, clean, and elegant . To be honest, I’m loving it.
