It was a rainy day in August 2023 when I first stumbled upon Arjan Jansen’s series entitled “The State of Indifference,” it was as if I had found not only the quintessential, metaphorical embodiment of all of my favorites but also an exquisite representation of all that is now: the worlds instability and conflict combined with our post-covid19 (more like 19-23+) state-of-mind. Yes, it’s as if I found myself - and our world - precisely translated in heavy strokes and minimal colors applied across 7 canvases. I clicked ‘'contact’ as I was desperate to know more about the artist, the collection, each painting, each stroke, and so on.
It has been about a year since I found myself inspired that day in August when I discovered Arjan Jansen and the following months of emails and philosophical conversation about art unrolled like a magical carpet beneath my feet; I wasn’t sure of the destination but the ride was extremely satisfying, inspiring, and filled with wonder. I am so happy to be able to share that journey with you now.
